The Pub on the Mall was opened in Freeport in 1964. It was part of a response by The Grand Bahama Port Authority to project an English image to avoid the Grand Bahama becoming a copy of Miami.
Located on the Sunrise Highway, it was touted as the first English pub in the Caribbean. Traditional English meals and draught beer in tankards were served by waitresses dressed in old English, Tudor costumes.
In 1975, the pub was purchased by Silvano Brutti.
