    Merci beaucoup for thé great video! I would add just one additional detail… In French, the word liberty, LA Liberté, is a feminine noun, thus the choice of a woman to be the symbolic representation of liberty. That concept came first, actually. The name Marianne came about with the Revolution of 1789-1799. Not all symbols of la Liberté are actually Marianne. Delacroix’s painting is called « La Liberté guidant le peuple. »!Though many think she is Marianne, she is actually not Marianne, but rather la Liberté.

    Even so, your point is great. Many people, even in la belle France 🇫🇷 think of all symbols of la Liberté as being Marianne. anyway!
