The 1d image was designed to convey the importance of family life in Malawi. It is a composite of three photos:
- Photo A – provided the smiling features of the mother
- Photo B – provided the pose or position of holding the child and the child’s features
- Photo C – provided the the simple cotton dress of the mother as the floral dresses in Photo A & Photo B would have been ineffectual when reducing the image to postage stamp size.
