Malawi Philately: 1964 Definitive Series – ½d Mother & Child

The 1d image was designed to convey the importance of family life in Malawi. It is a composite of three photos:

  • Photo A – provided the smiling features of the mother
  • Photo B – provided the pose or position of holding the child and the child’s features
  • Photo C – provided the the simple cotton dress of the mother as the floral dresses in Photo A & Photo B would have been ineffectual when reducing the image to postage stamp size.
