Malawi Philately: 1979 Wild Orchids Definitive – 50t Disa hamatopetala

It is believed that the plant was named after Queen Disa who occurs in a Swedish legendary saga.

The orchid is a Terrestrial herb found in montane grassland in DRC, southern Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. The flowers range in colour from sky blue to purple-blue, often with a darker lip.
