Malawi Philately: 1979 Wild Orchids Definitive – K4 Cyrtorchis praetermissa

Cyrtorchis is a genus of flowering plants from the orchid family Orchidaceae native to Africa. The species of the genus Cyrtorchis are epiphytic or lithophytic herbs, which do not have pseudobulbs. The white, fragrant, star-shaped flowers are distinctly spurred.

The orchid is found at elevations from 1500 to 6100 ft in primarily woodland forest and occasionally in riverside forest. The fragrance is similar to lily of the valley and the flowers change colour the longer they are open.
