Norfolk Island is a small sub-tropical island off the east coast of Australia. It first issued stamps in 1947. This presentation traces the postal history of Norfolk Island from its establishment as an adjunct to the penal settlement in Australia in 1788, through the relocation of the Pitcairn Islanders in 1856 to its administration as a British Colony and an Australian Territory.
