The photograph used for the 5s. denomination is an official public relations office photograph taken by Mr. H. M. Crane, and depicts a scene in Salisbury of Rhodes’ statue with Tanganyika House in the background. This statue was designed by John Tweed and unveiled in 1926. Unlike other statues of Rhodes in Rhodesia and South Africa, this one faces west, and not north, but this was no doubt done with a view of lining it up with Jameson Avenue, which is the main boulevard through Salisbury, running from west to east.
