Lusaka achieved city status on 9 September 1960. As part of the celebration, a special slogan cancellation ‘Lusaka A Capital City’ was used at the head post office from 10 to 30 September. Stamp collectors were addressed to write to the Lusaka and District Publicity Association to request a copy of the cancellation.
