The Posts and Telecommunications Corporation Act, 1970 provides for the establishment of a statutory corporation to undertake the management and operation of the postal, telegraph and telephone services in Rhodesia with effect from the 1st July, 1970. This legislation terminates a distinguished era of almost 80 years of spectacular achievement under government control and initiates a future of exciting challenge under the new commercial status. A set of four commemorative postage stamps is being issued on the 1st July, 1970 to mark this important event. The stamps contrast modern and pioneering aspects of the services.
