Queen Purple Tip (Colotis regina): So named for being the premier member of the red, orange, purple and gold tip ‘whites’. It is distinguished from other similarly coloured purple tips by its larger size. It belongs to the great family of Pieridae which includes in its membership the African Vagrants, white butterflies renowned for their migrations when countless thousands of them move across the veld towards some common objective.
