Southern Rhodesia Philately: Bain Bros

Bain Bros was a sports and cyclist specialist store located in Salisbury. In addition to a wide range of sporting goods, the business sold a multitude of cycle brands including Hercules, Royal Singer and BSA. The back of the building also had a workshop for repairs.

The business was built and owned by John Josiah Bain (1891-1966) and Kenward Ernest Bain (1900-1940). It opened in 1922 on the corner of First Street and Speke Avenue, and was the first sports store in Salisbury.

In 1927 the business moved to larger premises on Stanley Avenue and First Street.
