Southern Rhodesia Philately: Bulawayo Board of Executors and Trust Company Limited

The Bulawayo Board of Executors and Trust Co Ltd was located in Albany Chambers, Main Street, Bulawayo and was founded in 1895. The company was involved with the administration of estates as executors, administrators, trustees and liquidators. They managed the affairs of residents and non-residents, the lending of money, the sales and purchase of lands and other properties. They also provided accounting and auditing services including secretaryships of companies and tributors.

In 1923 H. A. de Beer re-joined the company as Secretary and in 1925 when the position of manager was created, he was appointed to this post. He remained as manager of the Board of Executors until his death in 1929. During this period, the directors of the Board of Executors were Sir Charles Coghlan (the first Prime Minister of Rhodesia), Mr. George Mitchell (a subsequent Prime Minister), Sir Allan R. Welsh (Speaker in the House of Assembly), Sir Melville Heyman, and Sir Digby V. Burnett.
