James A Mitchell was an architectual and monument mason located in Bulawayo.
The business was originally started by John Sheriff. Sheriff arrived in South Africa in 1897 and began working as a stone mason to support himself. Coming from Churches of Christ in New Zealand, in 1898 he began missionary work in Rhodesia.
James A Mitchell took over the business from Sheriff who later died in 1935.
