The Umtali Publicity Association was located in Umtali. In 1922, the association started to advertise the area using the slogan Umtali – The Eastern Gateway of Rhodesia. It issued an album of twenty-eight beautiful views of Umtali to help promote the region.
By January 1930, it was starting to use the name Umtali District Publicity Association. In 1947, the name changed to Eastern Districts Regional Development and Publicity Association.
