Join StampCat as she tells the story of The Battle of Electricity- a fight to save the Keratsini Power Station from attack by departing German occupiers. The brave Greek citizens, power plant employees, and militia guerrilla group ELAS (peoples liberation army) fought valiantly for hours against the invaders and won! Sadly there were 11 casualties on the Greek side- commemorated by a memorial at the power station, which is what is featured on this stamp! (Based off of the Relief of the Hoplitodromos.)
