Zambia Philately: 1973 25th Anniversary of the World Health Organisation – 10n Immunization – Eradication of Smallpox

One of the most spectacularly successful large-scale programme undertaken by WHO was the attempt to achieve worldwide eradication of smallpox. By 1973, only seven countries are were affected by the disease, compared with 30 in 1967. However, the disease was endemic in only one country in Africa.
