The International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) was established in 1950 as a global organization concerned with irrigation and drainage. Its aim was to promote sustainable agriculture water management to free the world of poverty and hunger through sustainable rural development.
Between July and August 1975, the 9th International Congress on Irrigation and Drainage was held in Moscow, USSR, Russia.
