Bahamas Philately: Post Office – Sunley Building

A stamp sales office was opened in the the Bernard Sunley Building on 23 April 1965. In 1966, the Office of the Postmaster General (Claude Sanders) was moved to the building.

Coil Machine

A coil machine was ordered in 1964 from Associated Automation Ltd for installation at the office but was not installed until 1965.

Coil stamps were ordered in denominations of ½d, 1d, 3d, 6d, and 1s. However, by the time the machine was installed, some rates became obsolete and stamps were required to be used in multiples to make the values required.
