Kasaba Bay Lodge was located on Kasaba Bay and was part of the Sumbu Game Reserve/Sumbu National Park. The lodge was operated by Country Hotels Limited.
The 34-bed lodge is located a few hundred yards from the beach, and visitors usually walk there through virgin game country escorted by an armed Game Guard. On these viewing walks there are plenty of opportunities for close-up game photography. Visitors who are not so eager for close-ups can always ride on the camp safari wagon. More extensive game viewing tours can easily be arranged with management.
Accomodation at the lodge is in double-room chalets, with hot and cold running water, electricity, and water-borne santitation. Meals are served in the main dining room, and there are usually one or two courses of fish fresh from the lake served daily. There is also a bar in the main building. Tea and afternoon snacks are served in the a thatched roof nsakka under a giant winterthorn tree. Barbecues are often arranged on the beach.
In the evenings elephants wander through the camp on their way to browse and drink at the lakesidem and late at night hippos emerge from the lake to munch grass just outside the chalets. Guests who awaken early can see them through the window. The animals are quite harmless if left alone, but it should be remembered that they are wild.
