Special postmarkers were provided on 3rd and 7th September, 1976, to commemorate the centenary of the birth of the Australian poet C.J. Dennis. The postmarkers were used at the Healesville (Vic.) Post Office, the nearest practical postmarking point to Toolangi, the settlement where Dennis spent his most creative years. The number of articles postmarked were 2830 including four registered.
The postmark design reproduces a caricature by the noted New Zealand cartoonist David Low of C.J. Dennis “hiking in the bushlands of his beloved Australia”.
