Australia Philately: 1989 Australia Day

The Tenterfield Speech by Sir Henry Parkes in 1889 is the theme for the 1989 Australia Day stamp. Sir Henry Parkes’ pro-federation speech is considered by many to be one of the most important in Australia’s short history. The 39c stamp will be issued by Australia Post on 25 January 1989.
