Australia Philately: 1989 The Pastoral Era – Stamp Heritage Book

The first in a new series of Stamp Heritage Books will be released in cojunction with the Colonial Collection – Pastoral Era stamps. The stamps and book are due to be issued on 10 May 1989.

Stamp Heritage Books were a popular part of the philatelic involvement in Australia’s Bicentennial celebrations. A series of five books told the story of Australia, from the period prior to European discovery through to the establishment of a penal colony on the shores of Sydney Cove.

However, that was simply the start of Australia’s story. The timeless lands that the aborigines knew became grazing land for the settlers’ sheep and cattle. In those “wild colonial days” Australia took its first steps towards becoming one of the world’s great primary producing nations.

The pastoral era comes to life in the new Stamp Heritage Book. Lavishly illustrated with new reproductions of paintings and sketches from the period, this book of Australia’s beginnings belongs in every home. The new Stamp Hertiage Book is priced at just $7.95. The prices includes a specilaty packaged mint set of the new Colonial Collection – Pastoral Era stamps. Also included with this first book is a handsome slip cover to house the entire series.

Two more Colonial Collection Stamp Heritage Books are planned for the future, to accompany further stamp issues in the Colonial Collection series.
