Bahamas Philately: B.O.A.C. – 1961 First Flight Between London and Lima

On 15 March 1961, the British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) filed an application with the Civil Aeronautics Board for an amendment to its foreign air carrier permit to extend its route from the Bahamas to a number of new destinations in Central and South America The application was granted on 6 January 1961.

The new service was inaugurated on 11 April 1961 using a Boeing 707 to provide a bi-weekly service between London, United Kingdom, and Lima, Peru (via New York and Nassau).
