Club Mediterranee was located on Paradise Island. Construction began in 1976. Club Mediterranee invested USD$40m into constructing four villages, over four years, each holding up to 600 guests, and spread over 21 acres.
The club was opened in November 1977 with 320 rooms and 20 composition tennis courts. It was the first Club Mediterranee in the western hemisphere to specialise in sport (tennis).
