Bahamas Philately: Eleuthera – Savannah Sound

Savannah Sound is a small settlement situated 16 miles east of Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera, between Palmetto Point and Tarpum Bay. It was named “Windermere” during its early days, and was given the name Savannah Sound, because of the large Savannah (grassy, flat area) found in the eastern section of the settlement and the Sound on the north-eastern side.
