The John F Kennedy Memorial in Nassau was a project of the local Rotary club. Over 1700 Bahamians donated £406 to a club fund raising project of which £300 went to furnish a hospital room in the late President’s name, and the remaining amount to the memorial.
Bahamian Premier Sir Roland Symonette, U.S. Consul General J L Banard, plus a host of local and national officials were present for the unveiling. The memorial was located on Blake Road and West Bay Street.
