Built in the early 1950’s, Little Orchard Cottages boasted 12 detached cottages in two secluded orchards, 400 yards from Fort Montagu Beach Hotel. The cottages also had a small pool. Famous guests included The Duke and Duchess of Windsor, while the Duke was serving as Governor of the Bahamas.
In the 1970’s, the cottages were purchased by Dr. John Knowles (1935-2016) and the accommodations expanded to a forty-room hotel. It has since been expanded and restored, and is now known as The Orchard Garden Hotel.
