In 1958 the Royal Victoria Hotel was put up for sale and was purchased hotel by Treadway Inns International Ltd in 1959. The hotel was closed for a million dollar restoration and re-opened in December of that year. Upgrades included the new Queen’s Court accommodation, a new nightclub, the Treadmill Room Supper club, and complete air-conditioning was added throughout.
It ceased operations in 1971 and in 1972, the hotel was re-purchased by the Bahamas Government.
