In 1976, after Hughes’ death, the Xanadu Princess Yacht & Tennis Club in Freeport, was sold by the Summa Corporation to Tulsa businessman Robert B. Sutton.
The Princess chain no longer managed the hotel and it was re-branded as the Xanadu Beach hotel.
