Malawi Philately: 1973 – 100th Anniversary of the Death of David Livingstone

In 1973, Malawi celebrated the 100th anniversary of the death of David Livingstone. The stamp released depicted the stained glass window of the church of the Livingstonia Mission.

Dating from 1894, the mission church has a beautiful stained-glass window overlooking the main entrance. The window depicts David Livingstone with his sextant, his medicine chest and his two companions, with Lake Malawi in the background.
