Meikles Associated Hotels head office was located in Salisbury. Meikles established themselves in the hotel industry in 1915.
In 1971, a separate hotel company was formed in which all the existing Meikles hotels were grouped. Investment was developed by the expansion, building and modernising of the hotels. The group’s main objective was to produce a chain of hotels of higher than average standards.
In 1975 a mammoth joint venture under Meikles management was formed with the large Southern Sun hotel and casino group. This venture became Meikles Southern Sun Hotels.
