On 11 September 1978 Australia Post will introduce a series of seven pre-stamped envelopes to replace the current embossed envelopes. The set consists of seven gorgeous birds of Australia painted in full colour by Marg Towt of Melbourne. The paintings have been reduced to stamp size and printed on high quality white paper with a 20c denomination and then made into envelopes. They will save you the trouble of remembering to buy stamps and envelopes separately. All you need to do is write the address and mail it . . . a beautiful time saving and easy way to keep in touch!
The pre-stamped envelopes will be available at all post offices from 11 September 1978. First-day-of-issue postmarking facilities will be provided at all Australia Post first-day-of-issye postmarker offices including philatelic sales centres. The pre-stamped envelopes postmarked 11 September 1978 will remain on sale until 6 October 1978.
