Bahamas Philately: French Leave

The French Leave hotel was located in Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera. It was considered one of the oldest inns in the Out Islands. The hotel was a cottage-style resort located on a mile and a half pink sand beach

In 1957, the hotel was sold to the Broadway, television and Hollywood actor, Craig Kelly. In May 1957 Kelly began an expansion project by constructing two additional wings to the existing building, creating one unit. The expansion added an additional 20 rooms to the existing six, bringing the total accommodation to 26 rooms.

Kelly also added a new central lounge and dining room, a bar and a swimming pool. The new hotel was opened in December 1957.
