Sailboard riding is a recently developed water sport, combining basic principles of sailboarding and surfing. The sport originated in California in the late 1960s. Paradoxically, sailboarding was not taken up immediately in surf-loving countries. It became the “in” sport of the sheltered lakes of Europe, and from there the sport spread.
