Australia Philately: 1990 Sport Series II

Australians consider themselves a sporting nation. Certainly, Australians have an enviable record of participation and success in international sporting competition. Our current definitive stamp series features Australians’ sporting involvement. Stamp illustrations capture Australians participating in sports at grass-roots level – for sheer enjoyment rather than for international accolades.

Five Sports – Series II stamps released by Australia Post 17 January 19990.

Active, fun sports are featured: Kayaking and Canoeing, Sailboarding, Tennis, Rock-climbing, and Fun Running. Also a part of the series is the 41c “Cycling” stamp, issued in August 1989 at the time of the last rate increase.
