Australia Philately: 1990 Sport Series II – 65c Rock-climbing

Rock climbing was once considered as a contributing skill to mountaineering. It began gaining popularity in its own right during the late 1940s and 50s.

Australia is well-endowed with rock-faces, crags and outcrops for enthusiastic climbers to pursue their sport. Popular Australian rock-climbing sites are the Glasshouse mountains in Queensland, Blue Mountains and Warrumbungles in New South Wales, Grampians in Victoria, Flinders Ranges in South Australia, Stirling Ranges in Western Australia, plus rugged Tasmanian wilderness areas.
