Bahamas Philately: Hotels, Clubs & Accommodation

In 1952, the Bahamas Hotel Association (BHA) had a vision of uniting hoteliers, that would yield long term benefits for business owners, the industry and the country as a whole. The first set of objectives by the association were mainly designed to look at the problems they were having, seek to promote the hotels and work with the Bahamas Tourism Development Board.

In 1954, the government passed a new Hotels Encouragement Act, which was aimed to spur on the modernization of existing hotels and a wave of new construction. New technology, particularly the advent of air conditioning post World War II, proved to be early game-changers, along with advancements in telecommunications and transportation.
